A full day's entertainment will be available for everyone. In addition to the old engines and farm equipment there will be stalls, a fairground and refreshments including a licensed bar. Demonstrations will be set up to show how the old equipment was used in days gone by. A thrashing machine and other machinery will be at work. Ring events and parades will enable all the mobile exhibits to be moved on the field (if weather conditions allow) For youngsters these steaming monsters provide both entertainment and education, a total contrast with the high-tec era we now live in. However, some of the older generation will remember steam rollers at work, while before the last world war steam wagons regularly pounded through St. Albans carrying long distance loads. The annual rally is now a well established event in the summer calendar of outside events, and will follow on from the success of previous events on this site. Over 30 full size steam engines will be presented in all their glory, in addition to old farm tractors, classic cars and lorries plus other bygones from our rich industrial and agricultural heritage. This event makes an enjoyable but affordable day out for both the family and enthusiast.
