The bring your own picnic halt will this year be at the unusual venue of The Hub at Farnborough Airport where there is the original framework of the famous airship factory. This is very close to Farnborough Air Sciences Trust, a small museum run by volunteers to celebrate Farnborough’s proud aviation heritage and its contribution to air science and research where there will be the opportunity to explore the exhibits. From here the route heads south to Champs Hill Garden near Pulborough for a private Cream tea and visit to this wonderful heathland garden developed around old sand quarries with an extensive collection of over 300 heathers and dwarf conifers sprinkled with beautiful animal statues. This garden is part of the National Gardens Scheme and normally only opens a few times a year for that charity. However, the owner Mrs Bowerman has generously allowed us an exclusive visit. Our last leg will take us to The Tithe Barn at Old Ditcham Park Farm for a hog roast and cash bar with live music and a raffle in aid of Sussex Air Ambulance. We expect the route to be around 100 miles and first cars will be at the finish around 17.00.
