Date: 10 July 2019-14 July 2019 Times:
The Royal Automobile Club 1000 Mile Trial has now become the must do event for pre-war vehicle owners, any automobile registered prior to 1940 is eligible, from an Austin to a Rolls-Royce, this event caters for all vehicles of a certain age!
Scrutineering will take place on Sunday 9th July with a welcome dinner that evening overlooking the Thames. Cars will be flagged away at 10:00 on Monday. Our halt on Monday night will be at Stratford on Avon, Tuesday night will see us in the Cheshire countryside at Carden Park, before we start to head back south with Wednesday night spent in the Bristol area, heading east Thursday will be at Winchester and on Friday after lunch and tests at Brooklands Museum we conclude the event with the final test being the fantastic blast down the Captain’s Drive at Woodcote Park. Cars will be parked on the Cedar Lawn before a champagne reception precedes the awards dinner.
Routes will be carefully selected to give the best possible driving experience for vintage car owners, the average daily distance will be around 150 miles. The route will be largely defined by a tulip style road book printed on waterproof paper, to add some variety a number of regularities will have their route defined on easy to follow Ordnance Survey maps.
As is usual with all HERO Events mechanical assistance is provided by very experienced mechanics, including vintage specialists but we do appreciate that your cars are sometime unique so on this event you do have the opportunity to use your own mechanics to carry out checks and repairs at the overnight halts – why not get together with owners of similar cars so that you can share the services of a marque specialist.
*** No confirmed 2018 information yet***Following on from the success of the new shorter format of the event we are delighted to announce that entries for the 2017 running of the award winning Royal Automobile Club 1000 Mile Trial will run over four and a half days in July - The start of the event will be from the Royal Borough of Windsor on the banks of the River Thames.
Add to this a style and glamour that cannot be found elsewhere and it soon becomes clear why the event has received so many accolades and awards since the second running in 2014.
